Characters

The characters will primarily be English upper-class and nobles. Most characters will be part of a smaller family constellation. Every character will have their own agenda at the event, with their own story to tell.

A few characters will be lower class servants. They won't necessarily be from the same household and know each other prior to the game, but they will have connections within their family constellation.

Two characters will partake free of charge. This is the cook (Mark Nielsen), and a kitchen maid (available upon sign-up) to help with essential tasks such as clean-up and dishes. They will still be considered characters and part of the game, but should not be disturbed when working.

Playstyle

Although the LARP is designed to be fun and unpretentious, it is not meant to be a comedic farse or a silly, slapstick comedy where characters are exaggerated caricatures. If compared to literature, it aligns closer to e.g. a Jane Austen sense of humour.

We aim for a high level of immersion. This means:

  • No scheduled breaks during the game, not even at night.
  • All areas are in-game, including bedrooms.
  • No photography during the game. (There will be photo ops before/after the game.)
  • No name tags after the workshop.

Appearance

We would like to see visuals as close to the Victorian 1840's as possible, both for daytime, evening, outdoors and sleeping. A costume compendium will later become available, but do not feel intimidated by it. This is a LARP, not a reenactment event.

There are no expectations of historical accuracy on a detail level, as long as the overall look gives a Victorian vibe. Nobody will care whether your costume is hand stitched or machine made.

Our community has a lot of resources when it comes to costumes, so don't hesitate to get in touch if this is an area of concern for you.

Ideally, if possible, please remove facial piercings during the day, cover up large tattoos (e.g. wear sleeves), and aim for having a more neutral hairstyle and hair colour for the event.
